Stress

image141

Are you stressed about being stressed? Do you avoid situations and even opportunities that may cause you stress? Let's work together to identify some coping skills to manage your stress or even find new ways to look at stress.  Either way, I want to help you effectively manage your response to those extra hormones surging through your body.

Depression

image142

Is your body tired,  are you experiencing sleepless nights, can't seem to concentrate, or lack interest in the things you once enjoyed?  Psychotherapy allows you time and space to explore how your past thoughts and present actions can become unhealthy and ingrained.  We can work together to find healthier perspectives and effective coping skills to manage difficult feelings. It is always preferred to meet face-to-face, but  if you are unable to get out or just don't feel like it, I offer video counseling.

Relationship Issues

image143

Whether you have been married for six months or 45 years, I will work with you to improve communication, intimacy, and connection through healing,  validation and exploring new skills.

Anxiety

image144

Most of us don't like speaking in front of a crowd, but sometimes we experience hard to control worry, nervousness and  panicky feelings in everyday situations.  Why is this happening? Where is it coming from?  I've had personal experience working through anxiety and I know how debilitating it can be. I want to help you to successfully manage  anxiety and live life to the fullest.

Important Life Choices

image145

Do you ever wish you could run an idea by a third party to gain an unbiased perspective?  To have a sounding board  who can guide you  and be a valuable resource? Do you put pressure on yourself to make the "right decision" the first time?  I can help you explore options, work through dilemmas, challenges, and the feelings associated  with major decision making.

Other Life Challenges

image146

"You are imperfect,  you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging."  Brene' Brown

If you are struggling, please feel free to call and schedule a time  for a 15-20 meet and greet.  We may be able to work together  and explore new skills, insights and solutions to help you effectively manage life difficulties.

TREATMENT APPROACH

  • COACHING- Counsels and motivates  individuals regarding decision and goal obtainment.
  • COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL (CBT)-Challenges thought patterns, beliefs, and/or attitudes which may  lead to behavior change.  The  therapy can help one face difficulties and more effectively move toward goals.
  • ECLECTIC- A flexible  approach that tailors the therapeutic process to the needs of the client that is most helpful.
  • FAMILY/MARTIAL/PREMARITAL- Therapy which focuses on behaviors  of all members of the family and how those  behaviors affect relationships. Sessions are usually divided up into individual therapy, couple and family or both.
  • MINDFULNESS- An active, open attention to the present to help identify and manage emotions that could be causing problems.
  • MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING- Increase motivation and help one make commitment to change.
  • MULTICULTURAL- Recognizes psycho-social  development may differ in people  from different cultures and backgrounds.  The counselor is sensitive to and comfortable with cultural differences.
  • NARRATIVE- Views people separate from their problem and views the client as  an expert in their own life.
  • PERSON-CENTERED THERAPY-  A process which focuses on the client's self-discovery, self-acceptance, and provides ways for healing and positive growth.
  • PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL- Help individuals and families  understand mental illness, and identify coping skills,  strengths, and  resources to better manage difficulties and feel  more  in control.
  • SOLUTION FOCUSED BRIEF (SFBT)-Clarifying goals and opening  up the mind to creative thinking to develop a plan that will lead to life-changing solutions.
  • SPIRITUAL/CHRISTIAN- The option to  incorporate your faith and values  into the  healing process.
  • STRENGTH BASED- Emphasizes the positive thinking patterns and circumstances in a person's life. Identify inner strengths and explores ways to deal with life challenges from a strength  based perspectiv
